The right of the individual to determine what happens with his or her personal data derives from the general rights of the individual. Legal rules - e.g. the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and German Teleservices Act (Telemediengesetz) - exist for the purpose of protecting these rights. The form taken by our website is in compliance with the legal requirements of the Federal Data Protection Act. We are convinced that you in particular, as an Internet user, want to know that we are committed to safeguarding your privacy.

  • You can navigate anonymously in all public websites of AGA-Portal.
  • In any case in which we wish to store, process or use personal data obtained through your visiting our websites, we will inform you of this fact.
  • The decision about what personal data we receive and for what purpose we may process or use it is yours.
  • We will respect your data protection rights, especially your right to be informed about any data we have stored.
  • Our staff are obliged to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Our data security measures are up to the newest technological standards.
  • The Privacy Officer and the Internal Audit Department of Euler Hermes monitor the compliance with the privacy principles.

Your options for protecting yourself and your rights under the Data Protection Act

We leave it entirely up to you to decide what information you entrust to us during your visit to our websites.

Anonymity:

You can navigate anonymously in all public websites of AGA-Portal. In particular you can use our premium calculator anonymously and exit from the quotation procedure at any time. We collect data exclusively for statistical purposes in order to improve the service offered by our website, and it cannot be traced back to you (See the section on "Storage, processing and use of data").

Consent/voluntary contribution of data:

There will be no automatic collection/storage, processing or use of data obtained from your visit to our website without obtaining your express consent. If you ask us for a personal quotation for a product, you need only enter the data for this voluntarily.

Use of personal details for advertising:

You can at any time refuse to allow your personal data to be used or passed on for advertising purposes. Temporary cookies for the purpose of regulating an Internet session or cookies which remain active after the session in question is completed are not used by us.

Access protection:

If you are a member of a closed user group of Euler Hermes, your access is protected by a password and the dialogue with you is automatically encrypted. The security of your data is therefore crucially dependent on how you handle your access data.

Your data privacy rights

Under the Federal Data Protection Act you have the right

  • to receive information, at no cost to yourself, about what data concerning you we have stored and what purpose we use it for as well as, under certain circumstances, the right
  • to require us to correct, block or delete such data.

Under the Teleservices Act you have in addition the right

  • to revoke consent you have already given to the collection/storage, processing or use of data obtained from your use of the Internet at any time without needing to give a reason and
  • to be shown at any time of your choosing any personal data with respect to you or a pseudonym which we may have stored.

If you wish to make use of these rights, please get in touch with the Privacy Officer of Euler Hermes.

The storage, processing and use of data

When we wish to store, process or use data obtained from your visit to our website, we will inform you of this fact. The decision about what personal data we receive and for what purpose we may process or use it is yours. In order to continually improve our website and the service it provides, we collect statistical information e.g. about the number of visits to each individual website. The information retained comprises the type and version of browser used, operating system, Internet Service Provider, date and time of access. This information is used exclusively for internal purposes and is not related to any personal identification.

We only collect data which makes a person identifiable via our public websites for processing and use when you voluntarily decide in favour of such an entry or declare expressly that you consent to it. In most cases such personal details are needed to make a product quotation you ask for. In this case the details are either passed on to the relevant department inside Euler Hermes or deleted after three months at the latest.

Details given by you in an application for a product quotation lead to storage of the details of the application with the company with which you maintain business relations.

We collect data on closed user groups for personally identified processing and use it as far as this is covered by the purpose defined by their contractual or fiduciary relationship with us or to the extent that they have given their express consent either electronically or in writing (e.g. in an application for insurance etc.). There is no compilation of data obtained from your visits to the websites of AGA-Portal. Each time you download a file from our websites the access data are stored. Each such dataset consists of

  • the filename,
  • the IP address,
  • the date and time of the request,
  • the size of the file transmitted,
  • the access status (file transferred, file not found etc.),
  • a description of the type of browser used.

Any compilation of user profiles is excluded. No transfer of data, even in summarized form, to third parties takes place.

Any personal data will be transmitted to state institutions and agencies only if we are required to do so under imperative national legal provisions. Our staff and any agencies we have commissioned have been bound by us to maintain strict confidentiality.

We correct and complete the data we have stored as soon as new information becomes available to us. Where necessary we inform the data recipient of this fact. As a member of a closed user group, you yourself can directly influence the quality of the data.

We delete any data we hold in storage on the expiry of the period stipulated by law or by contractual agreement or when such data is no longer needed.

We do not sell or lease any personal data to persons or organizations outside Euler Hermes, including user groups or e-mailing lists. Internal use within the company for advertising purposes is permitted unless you have registered your refusal to let your data be so used.
