Project Ilisu

Information on project "Ilisu"

The hydro-electric power plant Ilisu in the South-east of Turkey is part of the Great Anatolia Project (GAP), a comprehensive development plan for the region Anatolia. Through the DSI (Turkish Water Authority) the Turkish government commissioned a consortium, to which also the German company Züblin belongs, with the execution of the work. The consortium partners from Austria, Germany and Switzerland applied for export guarantees in their respective countries to cover the risk of loss of payment. These guarantees have meanwhile been granted.

On this website you will find information on the entire project - from the application, over the examination of the general set-up to the offer of cover and the final commitment which was made subject to the implementation of agreed measures which are to guarantee that the World Bank standards will be met.

An essential condition for the granting of cover was that the project will be monitored by an international Committee of Experts. That will include regular site visits to document the project's progress as well as implementation of the agreed measures and to make recommendations to the Turkish Government.

Almost all documents, minutes and reports are available on the website of the Consortium. Therefore there are some direct links from this page to the relevant pdf-files or web pages. These external links are marked with the symbol .
